Sailing Concierge with Disney Cruise Line

Last week we were able to experience our first concierge sailing with Disney Cruise Line on the Disney Dream. Now we are no strangers to DCL it is by far our favorite vacation to take! This was my 7th Disney Cruise and we were even married on the Dream back in 2014, but this cruise was different. Sailing concierge made this vacation truly seamless and relaxing even while traveling with a 2.5 year old and a 7 month old.

Sailing concierge comes with many benefits. From the very start you are greeted at the port with a special check in desk and you are escorted onto the ship by the DCL staff avoiding any and all lines. Concierge guests are able to book excursions/activities 120 days prior to sail date, and they have a dedicated concierge team to do this for them. Guests also receive a complimentary internet package, and toiletries in the staterooms are from Senses Spa. We had crazy amenities like a “pillow menu” by our bed from where we could select which type of pillow we would like, and a private sundeck with a hot tub exclusive for concierge guests. They even added in a private character meet & greet on the sundeck!

In addition to all of the above mentioned amenities I’m counting down our Top 3 perks of sailing concierge and why these ranked so high to us!

3. The Concierge Lounge. The lounge offered many different snacks in a quiet setting throughout the day! Every morning a continental breakfast was on display for us to enjoy. A variety of pastries, breakfast meats and cheeses + cereals and fruits were all available. I won’t mention how many mornings that mickey sprinkled donut pictured to the right was my breakfast ;) Next up came lunch snacks which included small sandwiches, and fruits. My favorite was the pimento cheese and turkey sandwich! Dinner snacks were offered every evening as well. One night we were able to enjoy lamb sliders! In addition to the meal offerings afternoon and dessert snacks were offered, and drinks were available too. Hot teas, coffee, can Coca-Cola products, and a bartender was available at certain times throughout the day as well. We loved the lounge mostly for the quietness of it. It was MUCH easier to eat and enjoy our meal with our little ones without fighting the crowds in Cabanas to find a table, and gather up plates of food from the buffet.

2. The Stateroom. The decor and size of our concierge stateroom really made the trip! I loved the turquoise/blue and gold accents through the rooms, but the size really sold us. Last summer we traveled with our then 18 month old and having her pack and play set up in our verandah stateroom made it very difficult to move around the cabin and stay organized. The first thing I noticed when we got to our stateroom was how long it was. We were able to fit TWO pack and plays between our queen bed and the couch without taking up any of floor/walking/play space. Plus the privacy curtain was right between them keeping them separate to ensure a good night’s sleep!

1. Onboard Concierge Team. Our three team members were incredible. This team is dedicated to giving you the best cruise experience possible. Their desk is located in the lounge, and someone is always present to greet you with a smiling face. They greeted our entire family by name (all four of us!) every time we visited the lounge. In addition to making you feel like family this team went above and beyond for us. They changed nursery times around for both kids to accommodate our change in plans, they were able to get us tickets for the sold out Princess Meet & Greet, they scored a massage reservation for me on our day at sea when I was told they were completely booked! We were blessed to have Angeline, Caroline, and Danny as our onboard team, and they helped to make our cruise one of the best vacations we have taken!

Concierge staterooms on the Disney Dream are located in the forward of the ship on decks 11 and 12. The lounge is located on deck 12. We were in stateroom #12518 and I found it’s location to be perfect. Very close to both the elevators and the lounge. If you wish to sail concierge on a Disney Cruise it is best to book early! For example the Disney Dream only has 41 staterooms that are concierge, which also gives you an idea of how quiet and less crowded the concierge areas of the ship are.

Did I find the extra expense to be worth it? Absolutely!!! Having sailed with DCL many times prior to this sailing not as a concierge guest I feel l was really able to weigh the pros and cons (price being the only one) of traveling concierge. Traveling with two kiddos under 2.5 years old isn’t easy, but our concierge team made it easy. We plan to travel concierge on future cruises we take with the kids.
