Storybook Dining at Artist Point
Last week I was able to enjoy a new dining experience at the Walt Disney World Resort. Storybook Dining at Artist Point (located at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge) is a dining experience that includes Snow White, Grumpy, Dopey, the Evil Queen, and some of the most delicious foods! Not being a huge Snow White fan myself I was pleasantly surprised with how much I loved our dinner here.
First up, the food! Our shared appetizers were the first thing out. I am a big fan of appetizers so having multiple ones to try was exciting! We enjoyed the Winter Squash Bisque (accompanied with a marshmallow stirrer), Hunter’s Pie (accompanied with a peach preserve), and a delicious Shrimp Cocktail. Next up was our main course. We choose our own entree from the six options listed on the menu. My Snapper was perfect, and I finished off the entire bowl! Lastly we enjoyed our shared desserts. First thought is no one wants to share desserts right? But these were very well portioned and since they were all single serving size you are able to enjoy them all without feeling guilty! Our desserts included the Miner’s Treasure (almost too cute to eat since it is Dopey themed), the Poison Apple (my favorite + it was glittery), a Gooseberry Pie, and the show stopping Hunter’s Gift to the Queen. The Hunter’s Gift is a true presentation and is filled with maple popcorn and ganache hearts. Our waiter presented this box to us a few minutes after the other desserts were delivered to round out our dining expereince. All in all my foodie loving heart enjoyed every offering, and I loved being able to sample multiple appetizers and desserts!
Now let’s talk about the characters! Snow White, Grumpy, and Dopey made their rounds through the restaurant while we ate. We had an earlier reservation at 4:30pm so the characters made it to us rather quickly. All stopping for photos and autographs. Twice throughout our meal the characters stopped greeting for just a bit and danced around to songs from Snow White. All of this is normal when it comes to character dining, but I did think this location was just a bit more immersive than others on property. The setting is an enchanted forest (with twinkling lights!), the food all fits that woodsy forest theme, and then when you add in the character interactions it’s just a great Disney experience! Pro-tip for your next character dining meal Disney Bound as a character you will be seeing. I went as Grumpy and Shelby went as Dopey!
After the meal you are able to greet the Evil Queen. She is stationed in front of an open storybook which acts as an adorable backdrop for photos. She is very much in character! She never once smiled, and while I can’t remember exactly what she was saying to us I do remember it wasn’t a pleasant conversation. I was ready to snap that picture and move along, haha!
Overall I rank this dining experience in my top 5 on property. Again this is coming from someone who isn’t the biggest Snow White fan to begin with. I do love a good show and with the setting, food, and entertainment at Storybook Dining it all comes together for the perfect presentation. I will be bringing the kids and the hubs here very soon!
