Pandora- The World of Avatar Opening Day
Pandora- The World of Avatar. May 27th, 2017. What. A. Day.
Disney's Animal Kingdom opened it's gates to a ton of park goers, all ready to travel to Pandora. Myself and a few were friends were lucky enough to experience Pandora on it's opening day! I've recapped my day (cliff notes version) below.
We arrived at Animal Kingdom at 5pm. This was our plan for a few reasons. First, with us being Disney resort guests we wanted to experience the EMH later that night (without falling asleep on rides). Second, when you stay at the Beach Club you MUST incorporate a lazy pool day into your plans AND make time for some Beaches & Cream ice cream. Both of which we accomplished!
After seeing reports of 4+ hours waits just to enter Pandora we were little apprehensive heading in. The line to enter Pandora began to the left of Pizzafari which I thought was a good sign. Turns out my gut was right. The castmember directing traffic to the end of the line quoted us a 45 minute wait time, but that wait time ended up being only 15 minutes!! Luck was on our side! We were able to spend the next two hours exploring all the beauty and detail that lies within Pandora.
After exploring we got in line for the coveted Night Blossom. The line looked extremely long, but we only waited about 10 minutes total. I LOVED this drink. I had previously read that many people were comparing it to Epcot's Violet Lemonade. While the Night Blossom did remind me a little of the Violet Lemonade the pear and apple flavors were very strong which made it different. This drink is VERY sweet. As in two quick sips gave me a brain freeze sweet! Lucky for me I have a major sweet tooth, so the Night Blossom will definitely be on my must do Pandora list.
For once I actually planned a trip more than 60 days out, and I was able to snag a Flight of Passage fastpass. Game changer! We walked right by that 260 minutes wait and right on to the best ride at Disney! I don't want to spoil this ride as it is (in my opinion) the BEST ride at Disney, but I will boldly give it a 10/10 and let you know it absolutely MUST be added to your plans.
Later that night (as in 11pm during EMH) we were able to travel back to Pandora. We had a little longer wait this time around, but we were inside Pandora in about 40 minutes. Again luck graced us with her presence, and the Na'vi River Journey was only a 35 minute wait. While the river journey was absolutely beautiful it does not rank high on my Disney rides lists. The story was basically non existence and personally I love a good story.
Overall Pandora was an incredible experience. My words and pictures do not come close to experiencing Pandora in person. Make 100% sure to plan on it during your next visit to the Walt Disney World Resort.
