Disney Skyliner Day at Home

My kids LOVE the Skyliner at Walt Disney World. If you haven’t experienced it yet this new mode of transportation transfers guests via a gondola system in the sky! My kids would ride it all day if I let them. Seriously I don’t even know why we buy annual passes as they would be happy with this one Disney “ride” all trip every trip.

Since we can’t visit the parks to ride the Skyliner we thought we would bring the Skyliner to life in our house. We started with a taking a ride on the entire loop of the Skyliner. We did this via technology and YouTube. Our friends over at Resorttv1 have an excellent channel that offers over an hour long loop of the Skyliner complete with ambient music! You can find that video here. Malie and Maverick sat in their chairs “riding” for at least half an hour. They loved spotting characters on the gondolas passing us by!

Next we put our imaginations to use! Using Legos we created our own Skyliner gondolas to carry some of friends. After we built our gondolas we strapped our friends in for their ride - Olaf, Toy Story Alien, and Mulan were the lucky chosen few. My husband strung fishing line across our living room to allow our friends to take flight in our own homemade Skyliner system.

As I was planning our Skyliner themed day at home one of my friends shared this template from Kingdom Insiders. This free printable allows you to color and build your gondolas from a single piece of paper. We created about 20 Skyliner gondolas using this template. We colored each one, and then the kids picked out characters. I found images online and scaled them down before printing. Then we put my husband to work! He strung more fishing line up high over our living room and attached our gondolas to it. Then we moved all the furniture out of the way and had a picnic right in the living room floor under our Skyliner.

I hope this helps you bring some Disney magic into your home! We would LOVE to see the Skyliners you create from your legos. Be sure to tag me on Instagram.
